Customers have one free choice of a "preferred" long distance company. Once customers have made their choice, there is a charge for each subsequent change made in long distance carriers. To verify which long distance carrier you have chosen, call 1+700+555-4141 and a recording will tell you which company is servicing the telephone you are using. There is no charge for this call. LONG DISTANCE ACCESS CODES - Many long distance companies feature a variety of special rates, particularly in the areas of "distance" and "times of day". You do not necessarily have to use the services of your preferred "1+" long distance company. Instead, you can use Access Code Dialing. Here's how it works: Dial the Access Code of the long distance company you wish to use (see code listings on this page.) Then dial 1+the area code+the phone number for a direct dialed call or dial 0+ the area code + the phone number for credit card, collect or bill-to-a-third-number call. Your call will be routed through the company you have selected.
