Thought to be one of the oldest standing structures on the island. Bluebeard's Castle Overlooking Charlotte Amalie harbor. This tower, which has been incorporated into a hotel building, was constructed circa 1689. Emancipation Garden Toldbod Gade, across from The Grand Galleria. Many of St. Thomas' official ceremonies are held in this garden. Named in commemoration of the freeing of the slaves. Fort Christian One block south of the Frederick Lutheran Church. The oldest standing structure in the Virgin Islands, construction was completed by 1680. Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church 7 Norre Gade, one block north of Fort Christian. This early 18th-Century church was the official church of the Danish West Indies. It celebrated the 200th anniversary of its consecration in 1993. Government House Government Hill, one-half block east of the 99 steps. Constructed between 1864 and 1867, this house serves as the official office of the governor. Hotel 1829 Government Hill, Next to 99 steps. Located on Government Hill this National Historic Structure completed in 1829. Camille Pissarro Gallery The Birthplace of Camille Pissarro. 14 Dronningens Gade. In the center of the historic district of Charlotte Amalie, you will find the house where the Dean of Impressionism, Camille Pissarro was born, on July 10, 1830. Synagogue Of Beracha V'shalom V'gemiluth Hasadim Crystal Gade, two blocks up Raadet's Gade, from Main Street, at the top of Synagogue Hill. Founded in 1796, the congregation worships in the oldest continuous use sanctuary in the U.S. 3
