Page Text ---------- Mango Tango Art Gallery POINTS OF INTEREST PATTY TACQUARD ANNABERG SUGAR MILL Virgin Islands National Park, Route 20 North. This abandoned 18th-century sugar plantation is open to the public. Ruins include the mill, slave quarters, and several outbuildings. It also features a self-guided historical trail with exhibits; $4 per adult, children under 16 are free. Fee includes Trunk Bay as well as Annaberg. BORDEAUX MOUNTAIN Route 180. At 1,277 feet above sea level, this mountain is the highest point on the island. Enjoy spectacular views of Coral Bay and East End areas of St. John from Centerline Road adjacent to the Chateaux de Bordeaux restaurant. CORAL BAY Route 107. The Danes settled here in 1718 because it was one of the Caribbean's safest harbors. The drive from Cruz Bay to this spot is a lovely one. IVAN JADAN MUSEUM ADVENTURES Ivan Jadan Street. Enjoy rare photos, historic documents and recordings of Ivan Jadan from Moscow to St. John. Call for hours. ELAINE IONE SPRAUVE LIBRARY & MUSEUM Estate Enighed, Cruz Bay. Originally known as the Museum at the Battery in Cruz Bay, this facility was moved to this restored "great house" more than 10 years ago. In addition to library facilities, there are permanent exhibits focusing on prehistory, Danish West Indian history, natural history and photographs of St. John. Changing exhibits include displays of community art. Open Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. REEF BAY TRAIL The secrets of St. John's tropical forests, petroglyphs, and sugar mill ruins come alive on this three-mile downhill hike. Monday & Thursday, 10 a.m - 3:30 p.m. VIRGIN ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK & VISITOR CENTER P.O. BOX 710, Cruz Bay, St. John. This park was established in 1956 and encompasses over half of the island. Visitors should start out at the Visitor's Center. Located in Cruz Bay, opposite Mongoose Junction, the center offers a park orientation video and interpretive displays. In addition to beaches and more than 20 miles of hiking trails for all skill levels, the park has plantation ruins. St. John is well-known for its great snorkeling, and there are incredible coral reefs all around the island. One highlight is the underwater trail at Trunk Bay, which features plaques that explain exactly what you see. The visitors center exhibits information on hiking trails and guided programs to help plan your park visit. Park Rangers are available to answer questions.
